Buck Stop Truck Stop is a conceptual installation work that brings together high and low art within the context of a Midwestern gas station. A combination of paintings, fabricated walls, posters, t-shirts, sculptures, and found objects brings the truck stop to life. The truck stop is owned by a former truck driver Buck Beuys, who came into a medium-sized fortune when his father passed away. With the inheritance, Buck was able to invest in his own truck as a way of staying connected to the community he had been a part of since graduating high school.
In the Buck Stop Truck Stop, travels will find everything from cups, mugs, t-shirts to a cigarette claw machine, resin trinkets, and authentic Buck’s bathwater. As you walk around the Buck Stop, you’ll see advertisements designed by Buck featuring his likeness on some of his favorite movie posters. In addition to Buck’s merchandise, his wife Starla sells her crocheted handbags and bedazzled lighters. If you find yourself traveling through the Great Plains, make sure to stop and say hello to Buck and Starla!
